What are the available water purification systems/technologies that can be provided to individual households or communities that are easy to build and operate?
Some members have already given the suitable replies to this query regarding available water purification systems. It has been already seen that in medium and high class families, water purifiers such as ROs are well implemented and well used, however there are still need low cost systems for poor people, and low earning communities. The sector really needs research and innovation in this regard. It is also true that many communities are there who have a strong immunity and digestive system, and therefore many times contaminated water doesn't effect their health while there are people who are so vulnerable for any change in water quality. Hence, there is a need at basic/ domestic level to improve immunity systems too. Apart from this, I remember that a cheapest and immediate technique is to boil the water and filter it with thin cotton cloth.
Are there low cost filters available that are easy to maintain and operate with less energy?
Filters should not be defined as low cost and high cost, instead it should be divided on the basis of its performance and efficiency to bring the change in available water quality. Moreover, it should be as per easiness of consumer and his/her geographical position. Filters should be low cost, easily available, and portable.
